After graduating from high school, I obtained a university degree in china studies and I´ve lived in China for two years. Because geographical freedom and self-determination mean everything for me, it was the logical consequence that I tried to figure out how I can make an income while being able to live an independent life.
A couple of years ago I founded my own clothing brand and started to travel through Europe, selling my own designs on music festivals, fashion fairs, and online. However, especially due to all these offline events I was still geographically dependent and this is when I started to dig deeper into how I can make money with nothing else than my laptop and internet access.
Because all my life I was into arts and with my apparel label I already did fashion design, I decided that I wanted to start working as a graphic designer as well…BUT how and where would I find my clients?This is when I stumbled upon a marketplace called Fiverr…
I liked the idea to be working on this promising marketplace where you can offer all kinds of freelance services…BUT (no. 2) how should I be able to sell my services on Fiverr because the competition there is very high?!?! The next weeks and months I then spent figuring out how to outrank these competitors and a lot of sweat and tears later I was eventually ranking all of my so-called Gigs on Fiverr and my life all of a sudden completely changed, only because of Fiverr I was now able to live the laptop lifestyle, travel and be geographically independent…
And then…Corona began and suddenly all my offline events were canceled, Fiverr was still going very well but I lost quite a lot of revenue from the missing sales that I until then was always able to make on offline events…
So I realized that geographical independence alone was not enough and I tried my best to figure out how I can build my next income stream…
This is when I ran into Affiliate Marketing – again the first weeks were marked by trial and error…BUT then one morning when I woke up I completely freaked out when I checked my email inbox realizing that I had just made my first ever affiliate commissions of a couple of dollars – I was shocked and super excited…NOW a couple of months later I am already making a nice side income with affiliate marketing and I am working on scaling things up. J
